Viewers accuse Strictly Come Dancing pairs of being ‘fake’ after watching ‘grating’ launch show

STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left irked by the reaction of contestants as the 20th series launch played out.

All too familiar with the format, BBC One viewers watched the Strictly professionals squeal with excitement when they discovered their new celebrity pairings.

Strictly Come Dancing’s pairings were revealed with only one of the 15 famous faces set to lift the glitterball trophy come December.

This could be the likes of Jayde Adams, Fleur East, TV presenter Helen Skelton, Corrie’s Kym Marsh, EastEnders favourite James Bye or Countryfile’s Hamza Yassin.

Meanwhile, footie ace Tony Adams, TV star Molly Rainford, comedian Ellie Taylor, singer Matt Goss, Loose Women’s Kaye Adams, DJ Tyler West, Paralympian Ellie Simmond, radio star Richie Anderson or actor Will Mellor also have the chance of winning this year.

Yet BBC viewers were quickly irritated by what they branded “fake” emotions of happiness when each couple was revealed.

One took to Twitter to write: “OMG the fake excitement when the pros meet the celebs,” as another questioned: “What’s with all the fake excitement.”

A third commented: “The fake surprise of being thrilled at the pairings (or even knowing who the other one is) is actually really grating this year.”

One then mused: “I adore #Strictly but these videos where the celebs meet their professional partners are so fake. They can’t all be happy with their matches. I want to see tears of disappointment!”

Another noted: “A full studio and yet fake applause piped in. Why?”

Yet during the big reveal, many fans rejoiced as Jayde Adams formed another surprise same-sex couple with Strictly pro Karen.

Ellie Simmonds was paired with Nikita while a hot favourite turned out to be Richie and Giovanni.

Helen meanwhile is the 7-2 favourite with bookmaker Coral to win Strictly Come Dancing in 2022, after she was paired with Gorka Marquez.

Meanwhile, many viewers had the same complaint about the 2022 cast photo.

Before their debut on the show on Friday, each of the 15 famous faces taking part had to pose for some promo pictures.

And it seems like some fans weren’t impressed with the styling, and in particular Jayde’s outfit.

The comedian rocked a nude see-through bodysuit, cream oversized high-waisted trousers, pink braces and sparkling trainers.

Jayde, who will be dancing with pro Karen Hauer this year, looked incredible with a face full of glam makeup and her blonde locks styled into a messy bun.

But one fan said on Reddit: “Strictly can be bit or miss with performance outfits but for some reason they are almost always atrocious with promo outfits. I see this year is no exception. What on earth have they dressed Jayde Adams in??”

Meanwhile, the judges this year are Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke.
