Khamzat Chimaev posts chilling ‘funeral’ warning to Nate Diaz ahead of legend’s farewell UFC fight

KHAMZAT CHIMAEV has chillingly vowed to put the final nail into the coffin of Nate Diaz’s career.

The undefeated Russian will lock horns with the MMA legend in a welterweight showdown on September 10 in the main event of UFC 279 in Las Vegas.

New fan favourite Chimaev called for a fight with the youngest Diaz brother several months before it came to fruition.

And he plans to brutally bury Diaz in what will be the former lightweight title challenger’s final fight in the promotion.

Chimaev made the sinister vow with a photoshopped picture of himself reading a sermon at a funeral – which had “Nate Diaz 2004-2022” written on the headstone.

“UFC” was written under the dates – which represent the length of Diaz’s Hall-of-Fame career.

MMA fans were quick to comment on the post, with one saying: “This dude is crazy.”

Another said: “This is cold!!”

And another said: “This pic goes crazy.”

One chimed in: “Khamazt is cold.”

Chimaev’s chilling photoshop came just days after he vowed to oversee Diaz’s “funeral”.

He told ESPN via his manager: “I am going to handle Nate Diaz’s funeral with the UFC.”

Chimaev was last in action at UFC 273, where he edged Gilbert Burns in a three-round war.

Diaz, meanwhile, hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since his UFC 263 defeat to Leon Edwards last June.

The Ultimate Fighter season five winner was eager to perform a quick turnaround and see off the final fight of his UFC contract but was unable to do so.

Diaz snubbed the promotion’s earlier offers of a showdown with Chimaev but recently changed his mind in a bid to become a free agent.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour, he said: “I’ve been asking for fights since whenever, I asked for a lot of fights.

“I asked for [Vicente] Luque, I asked for Tony Ferguson, I asked for like four or five people. It was never good on their side.

“They finally offered me Khamzat [Chimaev], I gave a little, ‘What the f***?’, but then I thought why not? Let’s get it done with.

“I asked for the Khamzat fight. Then, all sorts of excuses started happening. I wanted January, I wanted March, I wanted all these things…

“I’m trying to get this show on the road, but they’re keeping me in my contract and they’re holding me hostage. I want out, that’s my main objective is.”
