Jules Kounde throws Chelsea transfer into doubt by turning up UNANNOUNCED on Sevilla’s pre-season tour despite £55m deal

JULES KOUNDE has thrown his £55million move to Chelsea into doubt after turning up UNANNOUNCED for Sevilla’s pre-season tour.

The defender was left behind while his transfer to the Premier League side was being finalised.

The two clubs have agreed a fee and the player has even settled on personal terms on a five-year contract.

But France centre-back Jules Kounde has shocked everyone at his current club by showing up to catch the bus to Portugal.

Sevilla are heading to the southern city of Lagos as part of their preparations for the new LaLiga campaign.

Jules Kounde says he considers it ‘unprofessional’ to stay in Spain and train alone while he remains a Sevilla player.

And according to Goal he could move into Lukaku’s home, which is empty following the striker’s return to Inter Milan on loan.

Kounde may need to tie up an agreement with Lukaku soon as his switch to Chelsea is imminent.

The Frenchman has even been left out of Sevilla’s pre-season tour of Portugal.

The 23-year-old also said farewell to Sevilla fans after leaving the club’s training ground on Wednesday.

Sevilla want a deal signed with Chelsea as quickly as possible and would prefer to see him move to England rather than to Spanish rivals Barcelona.

Chelsea have come up with the money while Barcelona are trying to gather the cash together to finance a transfer.

Sevilla also want to source a replacement for Kounde as soon as possible.

A club insider said: “It is still highly likely he will join Chelsea. Everybody was stunned when Kounde turned up for the bus to Lagos.

But he feels he should be a ‘professional’ while still a Sevilla player.”

The 23-year-old has been linked to Chelsea over multiple transfer windows and the deal is believed to be close.

He could follow Kalidou Koulibaly as being the latest high-profile defender to come to Stamford Bridge in this window.
