I drove 75 miles to give Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer his wallet back… and he didn’t even say thank you

A FURIOUS taxi driver has revealed his anger after driving 75 miles to reunite Manuel Neuer with his wallet only for the German legend to not even say thank you, according to reports.

The man, named only as Hazir S, had given the Bayern Munich goalkeeper, 36, a lift from the club’s training ground to a fancy apartment complex in the exclusive residential Lehel area of the German city.

After finishing his shift, the taxi driver found a wallet containing £700 in cash, a Platinum Visa and Black Mastercard in the back of his car, according to Sky Germany.

Realising it belonged to Neuer, Hazir S embarked on a 75-mile quest to return the wallet to its owner.

The trip would have cost a customer a staggering £340 – but Hazir S flew solo on his mission to ensure Neuer wasn’t left out of pocket.

Yetthe taxi driver was left furious and disappointed after Neuer didn’t say thank you and only offered him a Bayern Munich shirt, according to the report.

Hazir S said via Sky Germany: “Neuer’s name and address were on his ID.

“I found a lot of cash, credit card and a driver’s licence belonging to Neuer in the car.

“About 10 days after I returned the wallet, a box arrived at my house.

“There was only a jersey in the box… not even a thank you note.

“This finder’s fee is a mockery! I have four children… he made fun of me.

“I can’t do anything with the jersey… it’s a complete disappointment.”

Under German law, anyone who stumbles across money of £425 or more is entitled to a five per cent finder’s fee – with an additional three per cent for anything over that value.

Hazir S was therefore entitled to £29 by law.

Instead, Neuer sent a Bayern shirt which retails at close to around £85.

However, Sky Germany claim Hazir S was left frustrated by the fact he was left £340 out of pocket for his round-trip to return the wallet to Neuer.

Meanwhile, Neuer will start the 2022-23 season as part of a new-look Bayern squad.

The German giants have lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.

But they have signed Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus to shore up the defence.

That move opens the door for Crystal Palace to sign Chris Richards after agreeing an £8.5m transfer fee.

Benjamin Pavard could also quit, with Manchester United and Chelsea fighting for the French defender’s signature.
