He was too used to Germany’ – Man City legend Sergio Aguero says Erling Haaland was ‘welcomed to the Prem’ by Van Dijk

SERGIO AGUERO reckons Erling Haaland got “too used to Germany” after Virgil Van dijk “welcomed” him to England on Saturday.

City snapped up the superstar Norwegian erling haaland in a £51.4million deal from Borussia Dortmund.

But he was given a rough ride by Liverpool’s star defender, and missed a last-minute sitter, as the Reds beat Pep Guardiola’s men 3-1 in the Community Shield at Wembley.

And Aguero, who scored a record 260 times for City and has a statue at the Etihad, reckons goal-machine erling Haaland still has some acclimatising to do.

The City legend said: “He was too used to Germany.

“ Erling Haaland thought he was alone, then Van Dijk arrived and said ‘welcome to the Premier League’.”

Argentine Aguero, who retired in December because of a heart condition, also questions City’s decision to sell Raheem Sterling to Chelsea.

The Blues snapped up the England winger in a £47.5m deal.

But Aguero reckons it was too soon to let go of the man he played with at the Etihad for six years.

He added on his Twitch channel: “I don’t understand the sale of Sterling, there are times [City] make strange decisions.”

The champions’ new £51.4million signing has had his new team-mates chuckling since making his move from Borussia Dortmund this month.

And Etihad boss Pep Guardiola is delighted with the way Haaland has settled in so easily.

The Spaniard said: “The first impression of him is really good, a funny guy.

“He’s settled really well with the team. That is important. Apparently people think it’s not one of the most important things but it is.
