EastEnders legend Dean Gaffney signs up for I’m A Celebrity – for a second time

EASTENDERS favourite Dean Gaffney will return to the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle as part of the All Stars series, we can reveal.

The soap icon — known for playing Robbie Jackson in Albert Square since 1993 — has agreed a deal with ITV bosses to appear.

Dean Gaffney, 44, will fly to South Africa in the coming weeks for the pre-recorded ‘Best Of’ series, which will star former campmates and is expected to air next year.

The star first appeared in the 2006 edition of the show, coming fifth as Busted bassist Matt Willis was crowned King of the Jungle.

A source said: “Dean is regarded as one of the best contestants the show has ever had. When the All Stars show was first mooted he was a name that everyone wanted to get on board.

“It’s taken some time but he’s now signed on the dotted line and will be on the plane to South Africa with some other show greats. Everyone is chuffed.”

Boxer Amir Khan, 35, and TV’s Gillian McKeith, 62, are among past I’m a Celeb  stars set to be in the spin-off.

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell, 64, Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder, 59, and controversial socialite Lady C, 72, are also expected to take part.

The new series will be filmed in Kruger National Park where, ironically, the Aussie version of the show is shot.

Producers will still shoot a normal run – featuring brand new stars – in Murwillumbah, New South Wales later this year.

The Best Of version will then likely air in early 2023, giving viewers THREE series in less than two years as the show switches back from Gwrych Castle, north Wales, to Down Under.

All three runs – the 2022 normal version, Best Of, and 2023 series – will be hosted by long-running presenters Ant and Dec.
