Black Mirror series 6 filming kicks off in UK seaside town with Aaron Paul and Kate Mara as first episode is revealed

SEASON six of the British anthology series Black Mirror has begun filming in the UK after the cast were revealed earlier this month.

Hollywood stars Aaron Paul and Kate Mara have been spotted filming the upcoming instalment of the hit Netflix series in Rye, East Sussex.

Variety announced the cast of Black Mirror series six earlier this year, reporting an addition of fresh new faces to the anthology series.

Zazie Beetz, Paapa Essiedu, Josh Hartnett, Danny Ramirez, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton and Anjana Vasan are also included in the new cast.

The Sun can now reveal Charlie Brooker’s global hit series has officially kicked off filming in Rye.

One local captured a video of Aaron Paul, who rose to fame in Breaking Bad, and said he was “having comical banter with passers by.”

In a video the A-lister could be seen wearing 1950s clothing and a classic old-fashioned truck was parked on the street.

Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones’ new production venture Broke And Bones landed in the popular tourist town on Monday to build the set for filming on Wednesday and Thursday.

Speaking to one local, a Black Mirror producer said: “Rye is great for filming these period dramas – it’s like you’re stepping back in time, even before we’ve added the set, props and signs.”

At least one scene in Black Mirror series six is set in the fictional shop, Al’s Bait and Tackle, which can be seen in pictures of Rye.

Al’s Bait and Tackle is actually a real-life cafe called The Old Grain Store.

Another local shared: “Parking bays were suspended and film crew began clearing the road of anything that identified the place as an English town.

“We saw American road signs going up and crates of boxes and fishing nets being unloaded around the cafe opposite Mermaid Street.

“They made the cafe look like an angling shop and turned the antiques shop into a book shop. Everyone could see what was happening, it was all very exciting. Then Aaron Paul and Kate Mara arrived and we knew it was for Black Mirror.”

It’s good news for fans as not much else is known about the highly anticipated series, which first hit screens in 2011.

They’ve waited three years for news of the dystopian show to return after writer and creator Brooker stated he didn’t think Black Mirror would be appealing amid a global pandemic.

Miley Cyrus, Andrew Scott (A.K.A Fleabag’s Hot Priest), Michaela Cole and more starred in the three episodes of series five.

Fans were blown away by the series calling it “terrifying”, “beyond creepy” and even claiming it stopped them from sleeping.

A release date for series six is yet to be announced though it is believed it will air on the streaming service early next year.

The Sun has contacted Netflix for comment.
